Making the impossible instantly readable.
The main concept was contrast: an everyday office meeting room trapped inside something far larger and stranger. The cover had to make that premise clear quickly, so the composition was built around a cutaway room, gridded perspective, dark space and a cold purple technology language.
Cutaway room
The office environment makes the concept human and recognisable before the sci-fi setting takes over.
Scale
The surrounding darkness, planetary form and grid system push the room into a larger alien environment.
Genre clarity
Hard-edged type, interface details and purple lighting make the book immediately read as sci-fi.

From illustrated scene to full book object.
Once the front cover was working, the design expanded into a complete book object with front cover, spine and back cover. The mockups show how the title, scene, spine and back text work together as one system, rather than feeling like separate pieces.
